Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery houses a vast collection of pieces that tell the story of the last 400,000 years of history. The art galleries include a Pre-Raphaelite paintings and drawings collection, fine art from the 14th Century onwards, applied arts like ceramics and metalwork, and historic collections, including everything from local archeology to world cultures. Recently the modern and contemporary collections have had a new home created in the Waterhall Gallery of Modern Art, positioned just at the rear of the Museum.
